A beautiful wooden bowl by the Kihachi studio, the oldest producer of wood products in the Yamanaka region of Japan. These are hand turned on an electric wheel out of zelkova wood, a technique Kihachi's craftsmen have mastered over six generations.
The most noticeable element are the fantastic markings on the surface of the bowl, lines that span both the outer and inner walls. The markings are added to the bowl by hand using a chisel, lacquer is then used to coat and protect the bowl. The perfect, thin walls also make these bowls easy to hold and beautiful on the eye, definitely a vessel to cherish.
Note: These are made by hand so each one may differ slightly from the photo, they all have their own character.11cm Diameter x 7cm Height
