Atsushi Ogata, a Japanese potter based in Nara prefecture, found solace from his Tokyo upbringing in the serene countryside near Osaka and Kyoto. Transitioning from a career in publishing, he discovered pottery under a master in Seto, a renowned pottery city.
Initially drawn to decorative techniques and vibrant glazes, Ogata's ceramics have transformed into rustic tableware, celebrating the inherent beauty of the clay. His artistic process involves wheel throwing, extended wood firing, gas firing experiments, and personally harvesting clay for unique, natural surfaces on his pots.
