Dutch designer Taimen Schmelders has collaborated with Japanese ceramic studio Maruban to produce this brilliant collection titled UTSUA.

Taimen combined both the modern technology found at Maruban with the handcrafted techniques still present in the workshop to craft a series that has a contemporary aura.

Thanks to his use of a matte finish the shadows hit the delicate edges and scatter light across the surface. A brilliant collection that combines the best of both Japanese and Western styles.
