A black lacquer dish handmade by Japanese duo Kenichi and Minkao Fujii. This wooden vessel has been hand-turned on the lathe by Husband Keichi before his wife Minkao applies the urushi coating, finished with a 'white edge' around the rim.

Lacquer is a traditional coating that has been used in Japan and the Far East for thousands of years. The sap is collected from the urushi tree, which once harvested and matured over a number of years can provide protection to any wooden object.
