Terrain Raku Container
A raku container handmade by British ceramic artist Kate Schuricht in her UK studio. This decorative piece is cylindrical in form with a domed lid and has been raku fired to give it a distinctive crackled surface.
All of Schuricht's pieces have a pared down aesthetic, exploring how surface and form can combine to create aesthetically pleasing works of art that stand proud in any interior space.
Raku originated from ancient Japanese firings where glazed pieces are rapidly fired and removed from the kiln when the glaze is molten (1000 C). The glowing hot pieces are then put straight into sawdust for smoking. The raku process is dramatic and unpredictable and it ensures that no two pieces are ever the same.
Please note: Each vessel is made by hand and may feature small differences in the glaze and clay body. This container is not watertight or foodsafe. Wipe clean with a damp, lint free cloth.
Approx Dimensions: 6.5cm Diameter x 10cm Height. Material: Ceramic. Handmade in the UK. An original design by Kate Schuricht ©
