An impressive white glazed cup handmade by Japanese potter Keiichi Tanaka at his studio in Kawagoe, a city located just outside Tokyo. This tall beaker would be perfect for everyday drinking, up-close you can see the stoneware clay and small black flecks coming through.
He achieves this surface colour by applying a reactive glaze and firing at about 1200°C. After applying other pigments Keiichi fires again at a much lower temperature. This is certainly a quirky piece of functional tableware that is sure to stand the test of time.
