Urushi Bowl

by Fujii Works

This bowl has been hand turned on the lathe by master craftsman Kenichi Fujii before his wife and fellow creative Minako applies the Urushi Lacquerware solution in thin layers.

Urushi refers to a native tree that grows in Japan and a handful of other Far Eastern countries that generates a remarkable sap that can be used to create a hard protective layer to vessels.

This particular bowl has a smooth finish, when the light hits the body you see a brownish/redish tint but as the the darkness sets in the bowl gets darker and darker. Perfect for noodles and small meals.
