Hiroshima born Mitsui Takeyoshi is a glass artist currently based in the prefecture of Toyama, Japan. Takeyoshi crafts his works from blown glass, specialising in traditional techniques but using modernist design as a way to differentiate his work.
Mitsui has the unique ability to mix colour in to his glassware in a contemporary way. His breakthrough came with his 'Silence' series which plays on the idea of subtle colour being used to make hard glass seem as though it is soft and malleable. He's achieved this by using vary degrees of opacity and juxtaposing muted colours.
