More than 70 years ago the multi-talented German creative Max Bill made the famous series “Fifteen variations on a single theme”. These works focus on the continuous development of one original drawing and use regular mathematical interpretations as an aim at finding logical visual expression.

The piece titled 'Variant 12' uses a circle as a starting point for creative exploration. Since the overlapped circles use the colour black it looks as though the large and small rings are three-dimensionally folded.
