A wooden plate handcrafted by Japanese maker Yusuke Tazawa with a blue lacquer finish. This piece is very unique as the lacquer used to coat the plate is a combination of urushi and charcoal powder (using makiji technique). Layering in this way creates a rougher surface texture, also a colour with hints of blue and grey.

This combination is really quite beautiful, as the light hits you see all the little bumps and flecks from the lacquer. It's almost unbelievable that this plate is made of wood with its light weight and stunning form.
