Large Zelkova Bowl

by Maiko Okuno

A large wide open bowl made by Maiko Okuno at her studio in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. This comes in a dark brown colour and is wide which makes it perfect for rice and small meals.

This piece has been hand turned on the lathe, once sanded it has a lacquer solution applied to protect the wood. The bowl itself changes in darkness depending on the light, but beneath the surface you can see the beautiful graining of the wood. At the bottom Maiko has left her trademark stamp.
