Hibikesho Bowl

by Shinobu Hashimoto

This bowl titled Hibikesho has been made by Japanese potter Shinobu Hashimoto at his studio in Hokkaido, Japan.

Well-known for his unique style of decoration, this specific style of bowl has a crackled effect on the exterior surface and offers a twist to your contemporary white glaze. Hibi meaning "crackle" and Kesho meaning "engobe", which is where he applies slip instead of glaze. The inner of the bowl is black with gold undertones, truly one of a kind and quite visually stunning.
