Ceramics
Shinobu Hashimoto
Potter Shinobu Hashimoto, born in Tokyo in 1969, set up Tenstone studio and gallery in Hokkaido, Japan. His aim being to design and make ceramics that suit our modern lifestyle, keeping the forms simple with minimal embellishment, staying true to the original texture and form of the clay.
You can definitely see Shinobu's hard work and eye for detail prevail in the final works, each is made on the wheel and then finished with a mixture of experimental techniques. One such technique is the use of slip instead of glaze to create a 'crackle' effect on the surface. All of Shinobu's pots have an abundance of character and a very individual aesthetic, we hope you like them.
