Bound Raku Containers Trio

Kate Schuricht

Regular price £390.00

A sculptural set of small bound raku containers on a charred wooden base made by British ceramic artist Kate Schuricht. The three cylindrical containers have been raku fired giving them distinctive smoked and crackled surfaces.

Raku originated from ancient Japanese firings where glazed pieces are rapidly fired and removed from the kiln when the glaze is molten (1000 C). The hot pieces are then put straight into sawdust for smoking. The raku process is dramatic and unpredictable and it ensures that no two pieces are ever the same.

These containers are permanently bound with linen thread and would stand proud in any interior space. All of Schuricht's pieces have a pared down aesthetic, exploring how surface and form can combine to create aesthetically pleasing works of art.

Please note: Each piece is made by hand and may feature small differences in the glaze and clay body. These containers are not watertight or foodsafe. Please display away from direct sunlight. Wipe clean with a damp, lint free cloth.
