Nankei are a ceramic studio based in the city of Yokkaichi in Japan, specialising in the production of traditional teapots using classic but timeless designs that date back many hundreds of years.
This particular area of Japan is known for a fine natural clay that's fairly smooth in texture. Nankei have used this particular characteristic to good use, leaving the surface unglazed so that the astringency of the tea mellows in flavour.
By using the maker's hand in each part of the process, they are able to make a cohesive pieces of design that look contemporary in any setting.
