A large black lacquer bowl that's been handmade by Japanese woodworker Mutsumi Goto. This bowl has a rustic charm thanks to the wiping method used when applying the lacquer.
This particular bowl has had a thin layer of lacquer applied to the surface, then it has been rubbed off to reveal the wood grain below. After he applies an oil to try and help protect the surface of the bowl. Not only are they functional pieces of art that can be used for things like fruits and salads, they're also one of a kind and would be nice decorative objects to have in the household.
