Porcelain Wall Decoration
by Miki Furusho
A wall decoration handcrafted by ceramic artist Miki Furusho at her studio near Tokyo. Using a cherry wood as a backdrop, the pieces of handcrafted pottery are placed on nails to raise them from the wall.
Furusho carefully combines a plain Shigaraki clay with a clay dug by hand from the Izu Peninsula in Japan to create a layered pattern that links to the ancient craft of pottery, also holding a contemporary calm that comes through thanks to the simplicity in her design.
When placed on the wall this piece has a unique presence. Quietly sitting in any interior space and not distracting too much from the overall aesthetic of the space.
Please note: This is a sculpture and is not a product for hanging things on. This piece is handmade and may feature small markings from the making process. Each one is one of a kind.
