A quaint sake cup handmade from wood, which is then later coated with various layers of lacquer. This piece is handmade by Japanese craftsman Maiko Okuno at her workshop in Ishikawa Prefecture.
This piece has been hand turned on the lathe, once sanded it has a lacquer solution applied to protect the wood. Maiko has used the Makiji method, which is a combination of lacquer and powder stone that is mixed together to create a textured surface.
