Jonathan Leech
Based in the English, Cumbrian countryside Jonathan Leech is an artistic woodturner who creates one of a kind bowls and platters by hand. Having grown up in Cumbria and developed a vast knowledge of the area, Jonathan has been able to combine his keen interests of cycling and walking in the search for the finest local wood, which he sources from fallen or storm damaged trees.
He recently progressed from apprentice to top furniture-maker Danny Frost and now works independently from his own workshop. This transition has brought much demand for his own work from the National Trust and various independent galleries. His preferred style is ‘minimalist’, using a simple design which allows the wood to express its own qualities. This often includes natural edges, knot-holes, burrs, spalting, and other naturally-occurring imperfections.
