Japanese Craftsman Taisuke Hirabayashi owns woodworking studio Atelier tree song. Taisuke has been manipulating wood for well over 30 years. Originally a furniture maker with a background in architecture and interior design, he was introduced to making by hand and decided to pursue it as a career.
His work is strongly influenced by George Nakashima, Hans J Wenger, and well-known toy designer Kay Bojesen. Alongside Hirabayashi’s collection of cutlery he also makes a selection of wooden crafted animals which are spirited by Bojesen's timeless Danish design. Although his utensils are functional Taisuke hopes that the more time goes on the more beautiful they will become thanks to his use of natural materials and lacquered coating as protection.
