Mitsuru Maeda
Curry Plate in Cherry
£65.00
A beautiful hand turned plate by Japanese craftsman Mitsuru Maeda.
To create these first Mitsuru dries the log of a Cherry tree to ensure that moisture will not warp the shape he creates upon the lathe.
After chopping it up into a manageable size he attaches it to the chuck and begins to spin the wood, shaving excess layers with a chisel in the process.
He forms a lipped edged which prevents any food escaping his plate and a ridge beneath for the plate to sit flat. He then sands, oils to protect, and brands Ki-to-te on the base to conclude.
Dimensions: 22cm in Width x 3cm in Height
